Google loves fast loading pages.
Your site needs to load quickly.
That means you shouldn't overload it with a bunch of stuff.
Avoid unsafe web fonts. Use those commonly found on computers, laptops and smartphones world wide.
Avoid page redirects, they add time to page loading speed.
All the images on your pages need to be optimized in size and quality, so they load quickly. You should do this anyway as to avoid paying too much in bandwidth from your hosting provider.
You also need to keep the code on your site error free.
Lastly, keep the number of WordPress plugins your site uses to a minimum.
Plugins can cause a website to slow down, sometimes drastically and Google will penalize your site if it loads too slowly.
